What are some good alternative and metal bands?

I like system of a down. Is there anyone that compares to them?? I am just starting to like alternative and I want to know some of the best bands and maybe some of their good songs. I know like fall out boy and my chemical romance a red jumpsuit but thats about it.. thnx in advance
