Can I use my unactivated ADT alarm as just a sound alarm that is not professionally monitored?

I have an ADT alarm system in my home that is not activated. I do not care to have it monitored since it takes forever for the cops to come & more so just scares the intruder at the sound of the alarm anyway. Is there a way i can set the alarm to still chime when sensors are triggered without having to pay for the cost of monitoring service?
